Hello Highland District Families,
We are excited to invite you to our first-ever Community and College Resource Fair! This event on Monday, October 21, 1:00-4:00 pm, at the high school, (the first day of conferences) is designed to connect you with valuable information and resources to support you and your family. Whether you’re a student planning for the future or a community member seeking assistance, this fair offers a unique opportunity to learn more about college preparation, community programs, and eligibility for various services.
Event Highlights:
In addition to college preparation resources, you’ll meet representatives from local Yakima organizations offering a wide range of services, including:
· YWCA: Support programs for women and families.
· Police Department: Community safety resources and meet local law enforcement.
· Doctors and Medical Professionals: Information on available health programs.
· Mental Health Counselors: Resources for mental health services and wellness.
· Substance Use Disorder Professionals: Support for youth/families affected by substance use.
· Perry Tech Technical School: Explore technical education programs to launch your career.
· Evergreen Beauty College: Career opportunities in beauty and cosmetology.
· Yakima Housing Authority: Housing assistance programs and services.
· People For People: Community support initiatives, transportation services, and job training.
· Catholic Charities: A wide array of social services.
· Washington State University: Educational opportunities, scholarships, and career paths.
· National Guard & Army: Career opportunities in military service.
· Yakima Department of Corrections: Careers in correctional healthcare.
· Yakima Valley COG: Community development and planning support.
· Washington Student Achievement Council: Support for college readiness.
· Salvation Army: Assistance and support services.
· Fire Department: Community safety and fire prevention resources.
· Upward Bound Math and Science: Helping high school students excel, get accepted into college and STEM majors, and graduate with a STEM degree.

This fair is a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with professionals who serve our community. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, learn about different programs, and receive guidance on your family’s needs.
