Superintendent's Message
As we come to the close of another school year, I want to take a moment to reflect and express my appreciation for the Highland community. This year has been especially meaningful to me as I complete my first year as superintendent. There is a strong sense of pride across our district, and it is evident in the work of our staff, the achievements of our students, and the support of our community. I am proud to be part of a district that is so deeply committed to students and to each other.
We are also excited to share progress on our most recent capital project, the high school track. The track resurfacing project is on schedule, and we are projected to complete the project by the end of June. The track will be ready for use in July and will provide a safe, high-quality space for our students and community. We look forward to the opportunities this will bring for athletics, PE classes, and community events.
As we close out the year, we also want to recognize and celebrate several valued members of our staff who are retiring. Dennis Richardson, our elementary PE teacher, and Tim Zurcher, HMS social studies teacher, have both made lasting impacts on generations of Highland students. We are grateful for their years of service and dedication to our district and wish them the very best in their retirement.
In addition, we want to recognize Francis Badu, who is retiring from Highland School District after serving as our Business Manager. We are thankful for his 14 years of service and contributions to the district. We are also pleased to welcome our new Business Manager, Patrick Timme, who joins us from the Ellensburg School District. Patrick brings valuable experience and we look forward to him joining our team.
As we head into summer, thank you for your continued support of the Highland School District. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Al llegar al final de otro año escolar, quiero tomarme un momento para reflexionar y expresar mi agradecimiento a la comunidad de Highland. Este año ha sido especialmente significativo para mí, ya que completo mi primer año como superintendente. Existe un gran orgullo en todo nuestro distrito, algo evidente en la labor de nuestro personal, los logros de nuestros estudiantes y el apoyo de nuestra comunidad. Me enorgullece formar parte de un distrito tan profundamente comprometido con los estudiantes y con el bienestar de todos sus miembros.
También nos complace compartir los avances de nuestro proyecto de inversión más reciente: la pista de atletismo de la escuela secundaria. El proyecto de renovación de la superficie de la pista avanza según lo previsto, y se estima que estará terminado para finales de junio. La pista estará lista para su uso en julio y ofrecerá un espacio seguro y de alta calidad para nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad. Esperamos con interés las oportunidades que esto brindará para el atletismo, las clases de educación física y los eventos comunitarios.
Al cerrar el año, también queremos reconocer y celebrar a varios miembros valiosos de nuestro personal que se jubilan. Dennis Richardson, nuestro maestro de educación física de primaria, y Tim Zurcher, maestro de estudios sociales de HMS, han dejado una huella duradera en generaciones de estudiantes de Highland. Agradecemos sus años de servicio y dedicación a nuestro distrito y les deseamos lo mejor en su jubilación.
Asimismo, queremos reconocer a Francis Badu, quien se jubila del Distrito Escolar de Highland tras haber desempeñado el cargo de gerente administrativo. Agradecemos sus 14 años de servicio y sus contribuciones al distrito. También nos complace dar la bienvenida a nuestro nuevo gerente administrativo, Patrick Timme, quien se incorpora a nuestro equipo procedente del Distrito Escolar de Ellensburg. Patrick aporta una valiosa experiencia y esperamos con interés su llegada.
Al comenzar el verano, les agradecemos su continuo apoyo al Distrito Escolar de Highland. Espero que todos disfruten de un verano seguro y agradable.
