Home of the Tartans! |
Message from the Principal TIS had their second parent involvement night of the year with a physical fitness night on January 12th. Students played obstacle soccer against their parents. It was well attended and everyone had fun. Our next parent involvement night will be focused on Math on March 9th from 6:30-7:30 pm. We encourage you to come join the fun and learn some new math strategies and games with your children. There was standing room only for the second year at the 2009 TIS Winter concert, on Dec. 10th with over 350 people in the TIS gym. Since our concerts are so well attended and space is limited at TIS, the TIS Winter and Spring concerts will be permanently moving to the High School gym, starting with the Spring 2010 concert on Thursday, May 27 from 6:30-8:30 pm. The 21st Century program began at TIS on December 9th. Students who have a registration form turned in now have the opportunity to benefit from the extended day program both before and after school as a zero hour at 7:00 am was started on 1/11. Zero hour is held in the TIS library for students to check-out books, do AR, complete homework, use the computers, etc. Snacks and bussing began on Monday, January 11 for the afternoon session where there is homework and reading times, computers, AR testing and enrichment activities. If you would like more information or would like to enroll your child in the 21st Century After School Program, please call Julie Wyles at 673-3141. TIS Student Leadership is hosting a Talent Show to be held 1/29 at 10:25 in the gym. Tryouts were held January 11-22. Parents are welcome to attend. January 29th from 2:45-4:00, TIS will have its Winter Carnival Social. The cost is $2 sold prior to the social and $2.50 at the door. Weather permitting there will be outdoor activities such as "Iditarod" and other snow games, indoors there will be dodge ball, the dance mat, and other fun activities plus snacks and pie for sale in the concession stand and don't forget to buy a picture with all of your friends for only $1.00! I want to remind students and parents that the first half of the school year is almost over. All TIS students should be practicing their math facts and reading at home on a daily basis. This will help your child be successful at school! Sincerely, Greg George
