Programs Offering Concurrent High School and College Credits for Highland High School

| Running Start Juniors and Seniors from Highland can participate in the Running Start Program at YVCC. Each student must first take and pass the ASSET Test. Call 574-4956 to set an appointment to take the ASSET Test. Visit their web site http://www.yvcc.edu/RunningStart/ | ||||||||||
| Tech Prep A student who attends Yakima Valley Technical Skill Center and takes Firefighting, Auto Tech, Radio Broadcasting, or TV Video Production; earns a B in that course, may then qualify for Dual Credit. The student's transcript is sent to a Yakima Valley Community College representative, who then mails a letter to the student offering that student Dual Credit. The ONLY cost to begin this credit earning process is $15.00, payable to YVCC. The Skill Center's web site is: http://www.yvtech.us/. | ||||||||||
Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate & College-in-the-High School Highland High School offers English courses from Central Washington University. To participate in this program, a student must have previously taken the SAT, gotten a score of 500 or above; or taken the ACT with a score of 19 or above. If a student is interested in earning English college credit while attending Highland High School, the student needs to talk with Mr. Stewart about this program.
